Final Assembly – “The Luminary Museum”
On 6 October, the Matric Final Assembly was held. The assembly started with a play - a flashback of the Luminaries enriching final year at OWLAG. The play was an exploration through the Luminary Museum which captured the contributions of all the matriculants in their respective areas of expertise and programmes, throughout their years at the Academy. These included Dance, Drama, String Ensemble, Wind Band, Debating skills and, of course, Sport.
After the play, the “de-blazering” ceremony took place. Each Luminary was presented with a gift from their fellow Grade 11 sister as her blazer was taken off. This ceremony is symbolic of the official ending of the girls’ – now young ladies’ – school years at OWLAG.
Afterwards, the Staff, the Class of 2017 and the Luminaries celebrated the farewell ceremony with delicious eats. The event was filled with laughter, tears, and a mixture of sadness and happiness as we all experienced nostalgia and reflected on the good times. The event provided a fitting close to the end of Mom O’s generous life-changing experiences.
