Nirvani Dhevcharran’s professional career has been primarily in the Technology area but she has worked in multiple sectors.
She serves as a non-executive member of the ZA Domain Name Authority (ZADNA) Board and Cape Peninsula University of Technology Council. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors of South Africa and a member of the Finance, ICT & Audit Committee of Cape Nature. She previously served on the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) Board, the Tertiary Education and Research Network of South Africa Board as well as the Overberg Water Board.
Nirvani is employed at Pearson South Africa, as the Technology Executive and is an Executive Director on the Pearson South Africa Board. Pearson is a global learning company and in South Africa it also owns two private universities, CTI & PIHE. Nirvani’s primary responsibility is to drive the strategy and deliver technological solutions to enhance and enable the provision of quality digital education to students - not only to the students of Pearson’s customers, but also to the students of its own universities. A critical component of her role is building close relationships with key business and technology stakeholders at a local and global level.
Her previous employment has been in the Financial Services Sector, Retail Sector, Manufacturing as well as in the Education Sector. Her qualifications include MSc (Computer Science) and Advanced Business Program (ABP). She qualified as the top student for the ABP program.
She has worked in multi-disciplinary environments and has had to drive the strategy and implementation of technology in all of these environments. She has strong inter-personal skills and communicates with business leaders on technology in business.
